OUYA & IndieCade 2013
OUYA <3 Indies, and with IndieCade 2013 (The International Festival of Independent Games), aka “the video games industry’s Sundance,” just around the corner, we have some AWESOME news to share about some of our favorite OUYA devs and games.
Luxuria Superbia, That Dragon, Cancer and TowerFall have each been nominated for IndieCade’s Red Carpet Awards. Plus, PotatoMan Seeks The Troof, has been selected for IndieCade’s curated Digital Selects. More info on each game below so you call fall in love with them too :).
AND, OUYA will be representing at the event – so if you’re in LA, and find yourself in beautiful downtown Culver City (and you should), October 3rd through 6th, please come say hello! We will have a booth in IndieCade Village where you can play all of the above listed games and many more including previous IndieCade 2012 nominees MirrorMoon EP (coming to OUYA October 1st) and Hidden in Plain Sight. You can even compete in tournaments to win an OUYA plus other goodies, or discuss the world of development with members of our Dev Relations Team (Bawb and I).
Congratulations to all 36 nominees, and all 111 selected games to be played at this year’s festival. All award contenders can be played in the Firehouse which is free to the public throughout the weekend, Saturday October 5th (10am – 7pm) and Sunday October 6th (10 am – 5 pm). Hope to see you there!

That Dragon, Cancer (Coming to OUYA 2014) By Ryan Green and Josh Larson

That Dragon, Cancer takes place in a Children’s Hospital. The players will relive certain moments in the ongoing 3 year long battle that Joel and his family are living through. This Children’s Hospital is a place where the natural meets the eternal; and the real meets the surreal. The player’s surroundings may phase to a cliff-face in the middle of a storm, or a midnight vigil in a home; a playground in the summer, or the bedroom of Joel’s parents with Joel asleep between them. With poetry, spoken word, light puzzle solving, and immersive sound design with a sparse orchestral score we aim to create a poem the player can get lost in emotionally and yet understand from the context of their surroundings. The player will be brought face-to-face with that overwhelmingly powerful dragon called cancer and be asked to choose hope.
TowerFall By Matt Makes Games
An archery combat platformer for up to 4 players. It’s a local party game centering around hilarious, intense versus matches. The core mechanics are simple and accessible, but combat is fast and fierce. TowerFall is best played competitively with friends, crossed-legged on the floor within punching distance of each other.

PotatoMan Seeks The Troof (Coming to OUYA October 2nd) By Pixeljam
Potatoman Seeks the Troof is a short-form, story-driven, surreal and challenging adventure for Mac, PC and Linux. In a world where the Troof is always out of grasp, Potatoman quests through the riddle. Across desert wastelands, thick forests, and dystopian cities, nothing is what it seems. With only his wits, his jump, and a question, Potatoman must die a thousand deaths to find the ultimate answer!
