Pier Solar HD delayed again to June

by on May 1, 2014

Pier Solar HD, the Kickstarted remake of homebrew 2010 role-playing game Pier Solar and the Great Architects, had its release date pushed back again, this time to June, developer Watermelon announced.

In a backers-only update to its Kickstarter campaign, the developer noted it is looking to launch the game just before E3 2014, which begins on June 10. Previously, the game was delayed from its original launch window of March to April.

The delay is largely in part due to last-minute improvements and features added by Watermelon in the last few weeks, as well as the game’s ongoing pass through certification for its planned platforms. Watermelon noted that it’s still patching up a few last-minute bugs, which the studio felt uncomfortable leaving in the game to rush it out the door.

“The game is super stable but some bugs are still being found,” reads the update. “We can’t, in our right mind, ignore those and go for release and rely on patches from day one. As long as there’s a bug, there will be a fix until the game is as smooth as the original.”

Pier Solar HD was funded through Kickstarter in December 2012, exceeding its funding goal of $139,000 and pulling in $231,370. The title was approved for distribution through Steam via Steam Greenlight this past March and is in development for Android, Linux, Mac, OUYA, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Windows PC and the Sega Dreamcast, with a Nintendo 3DS version under consideration.
