Take a look. It’s in a B–OUYA!

Hey this is Bob.

Today we’re going to help bring Reading Rainbow back – and we’re going to have fun doing it! We’ve joined with four of the top-earning Kickstarter campaigns of all time to show our support for a super-special cause. We’re creating a READING RAINBOW LIMITED EDITION OUYA in wondrous sky blue! What’s more, LeVar Burton will sign the first 500 consoles personally before shipping to backers!

All you have to do is support the Bring Reading Rainbow Back for Every Child, Everywhere Kickstarter page, and set phasers to DONATE.

Here’s what it’ll look like:

The timing couldn’t be better. Since Seth Macfarlane just announced that he would match donations up to $1 million! This is huge, and we can help reach this goal and get sweet, sweet, limited-edition OUYAs in the process. Everybody wins!

Since Reading Rainbow is raising funds to bring their interactive app to underfunded classrooms for FREE, we’ll be donating some OUYAs to help that cause. Some classrooms need devices to enjoy Reading Rainbow, and we’re honored to help fulfill that need. AND, upon reaching their Android stretch goal, the good folks at Reading Rainbow will bring their Android edition to OUYA!

So how did this all come to pass?

Well, a lot of cool stuff happened during E3, but one of my favorite memories (of all time?) had to be meeting this guy:

It basically went like this: Alex and I were at the IndieCade/OUYA booth at E3, showing off new and classic OUYA games to passersby when I heard him say something along the lines of, “oh, you should probably talk to Bob!”

I glanced over and met eyes with a familiar face.

“Hello,” he said. “I’m LeVar Burton.”

“I know,” I said in obvious awe…and the rest was pretty much a blur.

Suffice it to say, LeVar is about as nice and fun in real life as you would imagine him to be. And I’m happy, at least, that I handled the encounter better than Troy from Community.

…marginally better. 😛
